Broken Power Pole

Return to Sitemap

Having finally seen the removal of the broken pole near the house (below), I now begin working on the broken pole at 302 S. Beacon, which has been broken for several months, it being on the route I bike to work.  I learned yesterday that TXU is familiar with the problem.  The pole is clear except for SBC's wires, of course.  2004-12-10 Front overall view of site with broken pole.
Pole number of broken pole (2N 4E 119 based on next pole down) Next poles down the block - the one on left supports broken.

Next poles down with more complete numbers.

The picture below was taken in mid-March in the middle of the 6000 block of Gurley around the corner from my house.  It shows an older utility pole that was hit by a car sometime in the previous week and the new power pole with a rope between them.  The picture was put on my computer March 14th and was one of several taken of trash in the neighborhood.  It was taken because the new pole had been in place for about a week.

A complaint was called in to Southwestern Bell, SBC, about March 25th asking when they were going to move the wires from the top of the old pole so it could removed.  Over the next months, several phone complaints and several internet complaints, finally got the wires moved on July 1, over 100 days after the accident.  I talked to Jerome and he said the notes said the pole was on Hurley.  I called TXU Electric Delivery, previously Oncor, previously just TXU, about getting the broken remains out on July 7th and specified the block and pole number and Gigi tells me they called back wanting to know where it was!!

In the midst of this, about the end of April, I finally figured out who the cable company was, Comcast in their current name, called them about their wires and after a follow up call or two, they moved their wires in mid-May.

On July 1, SBC finally came out and moved their wires off the pole, after calling 8-10 times over three months.

Now I am trying to get TXU Electric Delivery 888-313-6862 to remove the actual pole 2004-08-13 it is still there. Patrice was first person, stopped returning calls. Patricia on 8-13   Utility Designer is supposed to coordinate  Ed Keah, 214-360-6652, on vacation to Monday, Gary Wilson, lead, 214-360-6601 comes up as FAX on first dial, busy on repeats  Sherry says no work order when call to correct phone (I had 6661).

2004-09-16  The pole is still in place.  I called yesterday and SBC said they had no record of calls after June 6 and their notes said all wires were on the pole (when it was just theirs.)  I was furious and ready to write SBC management and PUC of Texas.  This morning Justin called and showed up on my front step after I said I would walk him around to the pole if necessary.  He said he had turned it into Ms. Hickman, contract advisor and the pole should be out in a week.  Note that it is 6 months, almost to the day, since the pole was damaged. !

Did contact PUC on the internet.

September 29th, 2004  Miracle of events - the pole is gone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!    It was there in the morning and gone at night.  Six months and about 15 days since the accident.
